Powder coating booth function and arrangement.

The powder coating booth is intended for the process of powder composition application to parts in the work area of the booth with the help of an electrostatic spray gun. Its designed for use with powder paints in compliance with GOST 9410-88, use of liquid paints is not allowed.

The inner panels of the booth are covered in special powder paint, inside joints are insulated and have large spherical radiuses, which makes it possible to clean the booth fast by changing colors. Depending on a modification, a powder coating booth has one or two operator openings (for coaters) and two loading openings. The operator openings positioning is valent. The powder coating booth can be open-faced or passage-type.

The powder coating booth is designed for use with an overhead transportation system, with several independent parallel tracks (3 to 6), securing the transportation of carriers with parts to be coated from the loading area to the booth and on to the cure oven.

The powder coating booth consists of a work area, filter cartridge and control unit.

The work area is a one-piece welded construction with an opening in the front, through which an operator applies a powder composition to parts.

Supports with lamps are mounted on top of the booth. To the right of the operator opening of the booth is the control box and compressed air cleaning device.

The filter cartridge that represents a box-type housing with a detachable cover is built in the rear upper part of the work area.

The filter cartridge has a hole in the upper part for the exhaust ventilation hookup.

The bottom part of the filter cartridge has five replaceable filter inserts. Regeneration (cleaning) of the replaceable filter inserts is done automatically by means of pulse blowing for 0.1-0.2 sec. every 15 minutes, with the help of shutoff valves inside the filter cartridge. 5-6 kgf/cm compressed air infeed is performed through a special fitting brought out on the side panel of the filter cartridge from the main and through the compressed air cleaning device.

Connection points of the spray gun, air blow gun and impulse blowing to the compressed air cleaning device are specified in the connections diagram in users guide.

Manual regeneration (cleaning) is possible - by first pushing the START button and then the STOP one - at any time convenient for an operator.

The filter cartridge guarantees the degree of air cleaning up to 99.9 percent.

Rate of powder loss is not more than 5-6 percent, as the powder paint removed from the filter cartridge may be recycled.

Powder coating booth control unit

The powder coating booth control unit is intended for infeed of the spray gun, controlling impulse blowing of the replaceable filter inserts, lighting load, as well as protection of lines in case of override or short circuit.

Performance:

• Powder coating booths of different sizes allow coating of parts of up to 4,400 mm in height and 2,000 mm in width. A part length is limited only by the length of the transportation system and may reach 7,000 mm.
• It takes 10 to 20 minutes to clean the powder coating booth when coating colors are changed.
